Job Title: Math Tutor or general tutor

Requirements/Eligibility:
General Elementary tutor k-5
Required:

Taken and passed at least 2 college level math courses and 2 college level English courses with no less than a B.

Holds a valid Florida Teacher Certification in Elementary Education or Has extensive documented experience working with students grades K-5 in both math and reading.

Math Tutor (K-5)
Required:

Taken and passed at least 2 college level math courses and 2 college level English courses with no less than a B.

Holds a valid Florida Teacher Certification in Elementary Education, Mathematics 5-9, or Mathematics 6-12

Math Tutor (6-12):
Required:

Taken and passed all college level math courses up to Calculus 1 with no less than a B.

Holds a valid Florida Teacher Certification in Mathematics 6-12

Important details/expectations:

Compensation/time commitment: $28-$32/hr. The exact rate will depend on the level of education and experience (formal classroom teaching experience is preferred but other experiences will be considered). There may be a few paid workshops/team training and meetings throughout the semester. Tutors will set their own schedule. Tutoring will be scheduled based on mutual availability between tutor and client.

If selected as a tutor, you must be able to show proof of passing courses (via transcript) and teacher certification (Math K-5 and Math 6-12 tutor positions).

Start date: Varies. Some training/meetings will be held over each semester. The purpose of the meetings is to debrief on performance (individually and collectively) and plan for any upcoming events. Meetings will be held virtually/in person at a time that reflects the availability of all team members.

Note: This is a pay-per-session position, and hours may vary week to week. You should have a minimum availability of 10 hours per week. You should have a minimum availability of 10 hours per week. However, you may tutor 0 hours one week and 10 hours the next week. It is all based on what the clients need and overall client flow in the company.

Tutors are expected to provide quality one on one or group instruction to clients.

Summer Hours & Location (nonprofit arm only): Tutors covering Geometry, Algebra 2, or Calculus are required to be in person from 9:30-11am on Mondays and Wednesdays at Miami Dade College Eduardo Padron Campus. Tutors covering SAT Prep are required to be in person from 9:30-11am on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Miami Dade College Eduardo Padron Campus.

School year tutoring program - Some sessions occur via zoom (depending on client preference). In person Tutoring services are done at the most mutually convenient location for the client and tutor (on campus, coffee shop, local library, client's home, etc.) so tutors may be required to do some travel outside of their home.
